What is the Health Care Integrated Educational System? (HCIES)
The Health Care Integrated Educational System is a comprehensive and integrated system for health care education within the Maricopa Community Colleges.  It is designed to respond to the dynamics and evolving nature of the healthcare system; it is focused on collaboration with the local healthcare community; and it is sensitive to access for diverse populations.

Where is the Health Care Integrated Educational System located? Is it located at a college?
The Health Care Integrated Educational System (HCIES) is supported by the Health Care Education department.  The Health Care Education department is not located at a college.  It is located at the Maricopa County Community College District Support Services Center at 2411 W. 14th Street, Tempe, AZ 85281.  If you would like information on any of the health programs or are not sure which college offers a health program, please call the Health Care Education office at (480)731-8240.

How many health students does Maricopa Community Colleges graduate each year? 
Approximately 3000 students graduate from the Maricopa Community Colleges' Health Care Programs each year. For additional information, browse the report links in the Health Program Data page.

What is ICAN?
The Integrated Competency Assessment Network (ICAN) is a program of student assessment for allied health programs at the Maricopa Community Colleges.  Assessment is the process of measuring students' learning or achievement.  It can include traditional paper and pencil tests of knowledge, performance simulation tests of occupational skills, assessment interviews, clinical evaluations of student performance, and other assessment methods.  The mission of ICAN is to provide support for development and evaluation of assessment tools.

How can I earn credit by examination?
Credit by examination is available for certain Healthcare Core (HCC) courses.  To earn credit by examination for the HCC courses, you must be enrolled at a Maricopa Community College, have your enrollment verified by Admissions and Records, pay a fee at the Cashier's office, and visit the Testing Center to complete your test.

What is the NET?
The Nurse Entrance Test (NET) is a nursing program admission requirement. Visit http://nursing.maricopa.edu read their FAQs.

Where can I take the NET?
The NET is available at all of the Maricopa Community Colleges offering the nursing program.
