| Healthcare Education : Health Care Integrated Educational System
History
The Maricopa Community Colleges created the Maricopa Commission on Health
Care Education Reform in 1995. It had become very evident that the approach
to healthcare education reform had to be carefully planned and coordinated
so that a coherent, effective, efficient, and flexible model could be
developed. It was imperative that the model reflect a strong relationship
among the educational programs at the community colleges, universities,
medical education programs, the healthcare community, and the variety
of settings where care is provided.
The charge given to the Maricopa Commission on Health Care Education
Reform was the responsibility for the development, initiation, implementation,
and evaluation of the Maricopa Community Colleges’ educational
response to the dramatic changes taking place in the healthcare arenas.
